I haven’t found any “post-rock” type stuff I’ve particularly liked for a long time. Having been sent SO many Explosions-in-the-sky-ripoffs I’ve been put off the whole thing. A Egg‘s tracks might well be what turns me back to listening to it. Its just 1 guy, its all produced with samples apart from the guitar and bass. There’s a bit of auto-tuned / chopped up vocal too. Quite innovative.

Personal favourites: Somewhere Nice, Rostov could get it (Alright The Captain remix), Randy Jackson, Archway

Enjoy, spread the word

He’s only going to start his own record label too- called Owsla. First release will be Porter Robinson in Sept 2011

Hi All,

Its time for everyone to take note in your diaries. On Thursday March 17th, the stunning Kontakte are to launch their next full length album We Move Through Negative Spaces via Drifting Falling Records at Vibe Bar on Brick Lane (London). Stream the album in its entirety HERE

Let me say for now that the prospect of seeing them gets more exciting by the day and that their live show (with visuals!!) is a fantastic mix of electronica, soundscapes, good old fashion post-rock, beautiful, delicate guitar melodies and thunderous walls of sound. THE ULTIMATE CINEMATIC MUSIC EXPERIENCE. And not only is there something for everyone to enjoy in Kontakte, the rest of the line up also features some mighty artists especially chosen to complement the occasion.
IAMBIC from Brighton whose music blends neo-classical elements with electronica. IAMBIC made the amazing remix of Distant Street Lights featured on Codes In The CloudsPaper Canyon Recycled album released last November. Check it out here.
Also on the bill are Wild Dogs In Winter, a band signed to Gravid Hands Records along side cinematic popsters Fighting Kites. Think Sigur Ros crossed with Do Make Say Think – that Canadian lot from the Godspeed You! Black Emperor days.
And finally we have some newbies on the scene Waking Aida. They’re getting quite a lot of attention on the south coast so we thought we’d give them the opportunity to play to the London crowd.

Advance tickets are only £5 so grab em here: wegottickets

Skrillex is Sonny Moore. He’s from LA and he used to be in hardcore band From First To Last. Now days he’s making electronic music. He released his first EP My Name Is Skrillex for free and since then has been tearing up dancefloors all over the US and Canada. This is his follow up EP “Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites” released through Mau5trap, and it is the best electro/dubstep release I’ve ever heard! It features Bare Noize, Foreign Beggars and Noisia among others, and combines all the abrasive pleasures of heavy dubstep with the outrageous fun of electro. His first ever UK show was Jan 28th and not only was it rammed but the air was full of excitement as the British people were ready to welcome the Californian guy who gives the English competition at their own game. I love how he seems to be bringing so many different music lovers together, like his faithful fans from the hardcore days, electro fans, house music fans and of course dubstep fans. He’s going to be massive.
